Veteran Actor Farooq Sheikh passes away

Veteran actor Farooq Sheikh, who was last seen in films like Club 60 and Ranbir Kapoor's blockbuster movie 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' died of a heart attack in Dubai. He was 65. He is survived by wife Rupa Jain and two daughters Shasta and Sanaa. The actor was in Dubai apparently for a concert when he suffered the heart attack on late Friday night. Farooq's body will be brought to Mumbai later in the day after completing the formalities in Dubai.

In his film career spanning 40 years, Sheikh has worked with some well-known directors including Satyajit Ray, Muzaffar Ali and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The sheikh was best known for his roles in Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Chashme Baddoor (a film that was recently remade by David Dhawan) and Bazaar. He won the 2010 National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Lahore.


He also hosted the famous television show "Jeena ISI Ka Naam Hai" and interviewed several Bollywood celebrities.

The sudden demise of the veteran actor has left the Bollywood in grief with celebrities talking to twitter to express their sorrow.
